Keshav Chandra, IAS Acting Director REGULAR FACULTY Dr. Ravindra Kumar A man of science in archaeology who relates the art of history and archaeology to the fundamentals of scientific and field archaeology against the backdrop of rational studies. His early skills were honed by his studies at Banaras Hindu University. His ability is concentrated on scientific analysis and study of materials and structures of historic sites and buildings which is so basic and so important for the restoration, preservation and conservation of historic sites. Dr. Shalini Awasthi A specialization in Ancient Indian Social History against a background interest of anthropology, management and public administration, she has special interest in cultural and social aspects, particularly those influencing the structure and development of Indian ethos. Her area of specialization is Site and Visitor Management, keeping in mind the carrying capacity of Tourism of Historic sites. Her interest is that even after restoration, conservation and preservation the sites needs to be managed in terms of visitor management vis-a-vis its carrying capacity in order to prevent damage to the site due to excessive human/tourism activities. Dr. Sima Yadav Her specialization is Historical Archaeology and other such historical source material which are very essential in identifying and building up the forward and backward linkages of any site and property within national geographic and political-economic and social character and context. Without which the site/building stands in isolation and remote from the people and the culture. It is the context which gives the meaning to a building/site. Mr. Anand Burdhan His specializations include museology, public education and awareness about heritage beside the visitors management at the sites and museums. He has a wide ranging knowledge of Indian History, culture, society and architecture. He also designed the National Philatelic Museum, Dak Bhavan, New Delhi. Mr. Ashwani Asthana An archaeologist by training, who has over a decades experience in field archaeology. His special focus of study area relates to issues on/about environment, ecological and archaeological studies. Essentially, his credit stems from placing a historic site within its context - ecologically and environmentally-essential for the creation of a heritage conservation zone. His extensive training is in salvage/cleaning material from archaeological sites. Mr. Arvind Kumar Dubey A specialization in Tourism and Travel Management, which he applies against the background of graduate studies in pure sciences. Has a deep knowledge and insight into the preparation and execution of Integrated Development Plans for Historic sites and zones and develop the tourism plans and destinations encompasing the region /area. Mr. Sailendra Swain Specialization in history, epigraphy, numismatics and documentation and conservation of monuments Mr. R.K. Trivedi Specialization in documentation and conservation of monument, chemical conservation of objects etc. Mr. Aman Kumar Singh Specialization in documentation and conservation of monuments and chemical conservation of objects and heritage management
visiting Faculty Shri M.C. Joshi He served as Member Secretary of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Art also. Shri Joshi occupied the highest position, as Director General, in the Archaeological Survey of India. He is known for versatile knowledge in Indian History, Archaeology, Culture, Philosophy, Architecture and Art, besides the conservation of monuments. Prof. K.K. Thaplyal Professor Emeritus in Lucknow University. A leading authority on epigraphy, numismatics and Ancient Indian History and Culture. Prof. S.C. Bhattacharya National Fellow at I.I.A.S. Shimla. Former Professor and Head of Department Ancient History and Archaeology. A leading scholar in the field of social history and historiography. Prof. D.P. Kambo Prof. Kambo, formerly teaching at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, has planned conservation of several historical towns like Orchha in Madhya Pradesh and old parts of Delhi. He is the General Secretary of the Indian Heritage Society and a member of the panel of experts of the Heritage Foundation of the Delhi Development Authority. Shri B.N. Tandon Shri Tandon is an expert in building materials, archaeological sciences and a specialist in the preservation of buildings suffering from chemical, physical and biological causes of deterioration. He has worked for the conservation Taj Mahal, Jagannath Temple and several other monuments in India and abroad. Dr. O.P. Agrawal A conservation expert, founder of the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property at Lucknow, he is at present Director General of INTACH. He has been associated with such international bodies as UNESCO, ICCROM and ICOM which had regularly sought his advise and expertise on the matters of conservation, preservation and restoration of heritage.
