In this issue 'Heritage Management' and its allied fields have been touched upon and the articles have been arranged to achieve a focus and coherence. The beginning of this volume starts with the facets of heritage, tangible (i.e. Vedic Yupa and Symbolism of Mauryan Pillars) and intangible (i.e. The Folk Intangible Heritage of Marine Ecology of a Pondicherry Village). The next article, Archaeological Heritage Management traces a brief survey of history of protection of heritage objects. The article, Interpretation in Heritage highlights the fact that without contextual values and ideation the objects which one perceives as heritage are worthless and meaningless. Science and Conservation, Curative Conservation of Manuscripts provides a glimpse into the scientific basis of conservation, a core aspect of Heritage Management. Cyrax in Archaeology and Salvage Museology: A strategy for Heritage Conservation are indicative of the new dimensions and vistas being explored in the field of Heritage Management. While the article The Traditional Built Environs of the Indian Cities is a presentation on modernization and its impact upon existing urban settlements, the article Management Plan for Unprotected Monuments in India: A Case Study of Mehrauli Archaeological Park provides a panacea to the above highlighted problems. The final article Present State of Shahjahanabad Tourism highlights the fact that heritage is not for mere preservation, but also can be enjoyed to provide and interesting, informative glimpse into the history, culture and transformation of the organic entity, which is the city itself.
